The hockey teams of Peshawar Red and Mari Petroleum have qualified to hockey final as Peshawar Greens were outclassed by Peshawar Red by 6-3 in a touch competition that took place yesterday at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium. The squash legend, Qamar Zaman was the chief guest on the occasion and was accompanied by the President of KP Hockey Association, Zahir Shah and Secretary General Hidayatullah, the former Olympian Manzoorul Hassan and hockey coach, Syed Zia ur Rehman Benuri.
The match was started with a fast momentum and goals from Amjad Junior (19, 25, 35), Shah Fahad (29), Zahid (41) and Sameeh (51) ensured the top spot in the final round for Peshawar Red. The second quarter saw both the teams battle it out in the midfield as they looked to establish their authority in the match. The goals from Jibran (48), Ejaz Khan (51) and Abdul Wahab (53) could not save Peshawar Greens from the defeat. In the second semi-final Mari Petroleum team defeated Pakistan Air Force (PAF) with convincing victory 2-0.
