Pakistan Customs: Assessing, examining officers must be available in WeBOC system
Assessing officers and examining officers of Pakistan Customs are reportedly involved in misusing the facility of WeBOC system, causing delays in the clearance of imported goods. According to sources, some officers are involved in misusing the facility of making themselves available/unavailable in Weboc system with no valid reason, creating impediments in the clearance of goods on time.
Sources told that the issue has been brought to the concerned authorities that led the restriction imposed by the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Appraisement, West, on the assessing officers and examining officers, who are now unable to misuse the said facility.
In an office order issued by MCC, Appraisement West, the collectorate has confirmed that some assessing officers and examining officers were misusing the facility of making themselves available/unavailable in Weboc system without any valid reason.
Therefore the collectorate through the office order directed these officers to ensure that their WeBOC IDs were always on available status unless they were on authorized leave in order to streamline the function of customs department.
The order further stated that for any period other than authorized leave, the facility of making themselves unavailable would only be used after written permission of concerned supervisory i.e. assistance commission or deputy commission, giving reason and duration for which the use of unavailable is being availed.
In addition, the concerned deputy collector has also been ordered to generate weekly report in this regard for verification.
