Prices of essential kitchen items further witnessed an increase during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that during the week under review, prices of most of the essential kitchen items including vegetables, chicken, spices, cooked food items, tea cup and non-perishable items kept on going up.
Onion price further went up from Rs 170 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg in the wholesales market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 45 per kg. Best quality potatoes price remained stable at Rs 180 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg, sweet potatoes price was found stable at 120 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 30 per kg. Tomatoes were being sold at Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 90-100 per kg.
Various qualities of garlic were available in the range of Rs 800-600 per 5kg against Rs 450-550 per 5kg, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 130-160 per kg against Rs 100-140 per kg. Ginger price remained stable at Rs 1,000 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 240 per kg. Lemon price remained stable at Rs 700 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 175 per kg.
Wheat flour price further jumped up from Rs 780 per 20kg bag to Rs 790 per 20kg bag and egg from Rs 110 per dozen to Rs 115 per dozen, while live chicken was available at Rs 5,000 per 40kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 160-170 per kg and chicken meat at Rs 270 per kg.
Prices of all the major pulses remained on high side as fine quality white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 160 per kg, while its normal quality was available at Rs 130 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 140 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) at Rs 120 per kg.
Sugar price remained on high side at Rs 2,750 per 50kg bag which in retail market was being sold at Rs 62 per kg. Powdered milk (Everyday and Nido) was available at Rs 825 per kg pack. A packet of packed spices of National and Shan brands was available at Rs 65 per pack against Rs 55.
Rice prices crossed Rs 150 level for the first time in past 5 years as good basmati rice was being sold at Rs 160 per kg and normal quality rice at Rs 100 per kg. Tea Lipton Yellow Label was available at Rs 870 per kg and Dettol liquid at Rs 150 per bottle.
Normal quality ghee/cooking oil prices have further increased from Rs 130 per 900 grams pack to Rs 140 per 900 grams pack, while best quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 990 per 5 litre tin.
Capsicum price went down from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 475 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 180 per kg; yam (arvi) price went down from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 230 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 65-70 per kg; and local carrot price remained stable at Rs 350 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 80 per kg.
Bean price went down from Rs 520 per 5kg to Rs 450 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 150 per kg, okra price remained stable at Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 70-80 per kg, and ridge gourd (tori) price went down from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 100 per kg.
Local tinda price went down from Rs 600 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg, while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 150 per kg. Cauliflower price went up from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 75 per kg against Rs 65 per kg and cabbage price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 220 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 55 per kg.
Peas' price further went up from Rs 1,000 per 5kg to Rs 1,400 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 220 per kg against Rs 300 per kg. Karela (bitter gourd) price went down from Rs 550 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 150 per kg.
