Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari and Emir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday announced to unite all the opposition parties in the Parliament to make joint efforts to steer the country out of crises.
Both the leaders of opposition parties said this here while talking to journalists after having a detailed meeting where they discuss the current political situation of the country. Asif Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that soon they would be calling the meeting of joint opposition to devise a joint strategy to tackle the government inside and outside the Parliament. Both the leaders agreed to organise an All Parties Conference (APC) consisting of all the opposition parties to take common stance against the policies of the government.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that bringing all the opposition parties on one platform is vital to contain, what he termed, the government based on stolen public mandate from playing with the fate of people of Pakistan.
Zardari claimed that 'democratic forces' are becoming weaker in the country, adding that his party will play due role for the protection of democratic system in Pakistan. Zardari added that PPP has been working for democracy for the past ten years and warned that he does not see the state working properly. He added that JUI-F chief will hold a meeting with the main opposition party in the Parliament, PML-N, and will convey PPP's message to it.
The former president said that it is not necessary to bring vote of no confidence move against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government under Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Terming both the PTI government and Prime Minister Imran Khan fake, the JUI-F chief said that the government is exposed in just two months after it unleashed the storm of price hike. He said that the present setup is similar to Shaukat Aziz's but is operating in a new shape. "Bringing no confidence move in the Parliament is a part of democracy and we will adopt every democratic move to deal with the situation," the JUI-F chief replied to a question.
Rehman said that he wants to see all the opposition parties on one page as only then they would come in a position to thwart the government from playing with the fate of masses. He also said that he has met with the PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif, Chairman PML-N Raja Zafar-ul-Haq and the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.
On a question Zardari said that setting matters with PML-N is the responsibility of the JUI-F chief. Zardari added that the opposition alliance will also consult Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal and MQM. He said that the opposition parties moot will decide next week an all encompassing strategy to tackle the government in and outside the Parliament. He said that he met with Nawaz Sharif a few days back and informed him that people of Pakistan are looking toward him for guidance.
