The Punjab's food regulatory body on Tuesday planned to introduce the currency note ink for the recognition of fake and real food items in the market. The DG Punjab Food Authority met with the delegation of International Labeling Security Company regarding implementation of the plan at PFA Headquarters in provincial metropolis. While chairing the meeting, DG PFA Muhammad Usman Younis urged that there is a dire need to introduce an authentic system through which fake and real food items can be segregated in the market.
This modern system of making food product labels with machine readable currency note inks will help in accurate traceability and proper check and balance of food products. Refill policy of the 19-litre water bottle was also discussed during the meeting. Further, he stated that in Dubai 19-litre water bottle can only be refilled 70 times for the drinking purposes.
The machine readable code gets updated every time the bottle is refilled. These codes allow the consumer to verify online the number of times a bottle has been previously filled. Excessive use of water bottles allows the chemical seepage into the drinkable water.
