Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar on Tuesday urged the business community to help Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) resolve the issues of metropolis. "Traders and industrialist should own Karachi," he urged at separate meetings with the visiting delegations of Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Pakistan Tanners Association at his office.
Akhtar emphasised that traders should pay taxes and municipal charges of KMC within deadline. He said the civic body is working on sanitation, garbage lifting, fumigation, fire fighting and road pavements that require huge financial resources. He said traders can play a pivotal role in resolution of such civic issues by helping the cash-starved KMC.
Meanwhile the business delegations also highlighted a range of sanitary and infrastructure related issues they are facing with in the industrial zones. The tanners' representatives said that Sector 7-A of Korangi is the biggest industrial zone with as many as 400 industrial units, including some 200 tanners.
