Positive response of the business community towards water and other important issues confronted by Pakistan is highly appreciable and hopefully we will settle these issues very soon with the active support of patriotic businessmen, said Prime Minister Imran Khan. Receiving a cheque of Rs 7.5 million from Mian Tanveer Ahmed Acting President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), he said that ill-conceived policies of previous governments coupled with politicization of administrative and the government institutions has posed a serious threat to the national economy. However, he was optimistic that PTI government will settle these issues in collaboration with the active support of business community.
Regarding textile policy, Prime Minister said that extensive consultation with stakeholders will be carried out to evolve and further fine tune the economic policies in order to enhance exports and bridge the widening gap between imports and exports.
Earlier Mian Tanveer Ahmed appreciated the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and said that government as well as business community has the identical views on the revival of national economy and in this connection; they have to work jointly to drag out Pakistan from the economic crisis. He appreciated a subsidy of Rs 44 billion to ensure gas to the five important export sectors at uniform rates and hoped that it will cut down the production cost and thus plays a major role in enhancing national export. He was also appreciative of the efforts of the present government and Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to adopt long term policies to settle down the chronic issue of water storage. He said that FCCI has always played a key role during national calamities and it will continue to support the government's efforts to resolve the issue of water shortage by constructing new dams.
