VCs appointed for QAU, AIOU

President Dr Arif Alvi Friday approved the appointments of Dr Mohammad Ali as vice chancellor Quaid-i-Azam University, Dr Ziaul Qayum as VC Allam Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and Dr Masoom Yasinzai as rector International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). Dr Ali was earlier the VC of Government College University Faisalabad, Dr Qayum was the VC of Gujarat and Dr Yasinzai was the Rector IIUI.
The president approved the appointments for four years as the chancellor of these universities. Prof Dr Muhammad Ali (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), a renowned international name in the field of biological sciences had joined Government College University Faisalabad as its 4th vice chancellor. Recognising his valuable achievements in the field of science and research, the government of Pakistan conferred upon him Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. He did his PhD from the University of Wales (UK) and post-doctoral work from MU Columbia, USA.
Dr Ali has vast experience in the domains of teaching, research, administration, planning & development and project management. With an academic experience of more than 27 years, he enjoys a strong research outlook with many PhD and MPhil students to his credit along with research impact factor above 200.
Prior to the approval of his posting as the UoG VC, Dr Ziaul Qayyum was serving as the director of the Faisalabad/Chiniot campus of the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences.
His professional experience spans over more than 25 years in a diverse range of fields. The establishment of IT institutes and organisational planning and development remain the foremost highlights of his career.
Dr Zia is an experienced educationist, who earned master's degrees in mathematics and computer science and also earned a doctorate from the University of Leeds, UK, specialising in machine learning/semantic information retrieval.
Professor Yasinzai who joined his duties at new campus of the university on Friday is renowned international scientist who has also served as vice chancellor Balochistan University and VC Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
He had his primary education from Kuchlak, a suburb area of Quetta, and his research and academic activities date back to 1980 when he started teaching at the University of Balochistan.
