US President Donald Trump has turned down the Indian invitation to be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations to be held on January 26 next year, Aaj News reported on Saturday. The formal letter from US has reached Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office through which Indian government was formally informed that Trump regretted he cannot accept the invitation.
Indian government signed a missile deal with Russia and continued to buy oil from Iran, despite US sanctions and threats of President Trump against the deal with Russia and trade with Iran. There may have been other reasons behind Trump's refusal but said two examples of Indian defiance and the fact that National Democratic Alliance government in India is near to complete its tenure may be the reasons for Trump to refuse Indian invitation.
