The Karachi Port handled 138,727 tonnes of cargo comprising 120,878 tonnes of import cargo and 17,849 tonnes of export cargo including 5,572 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 120,878 tonnes comprised of 41,552 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30,463 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,290 tonnes of soyabean meal and 43,573 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 17,849 tonnes comprised of 17,697 tonnes of containerised cargo; 152 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 5,572 containers comprising of 3,655 containers import and 1,917 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 830 of 20's and 1,085 of 40's loaded while 23 of 20's and 316 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 530 of 20's and 231 of 40's loaded containers while 243 of 20's and 341 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Cosco Philippines, MS Tiger, Asphalt Alliance and Minoan Grace carrying containers, bitumen and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Bomar Hermes, Cosco Philippines, Beautrophy and IBI carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 117,910 tonnes comprising 101,760 tonnes of import cargo and 16,150 tonnes of export cargo including 1,450 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 101,760 tonnes includes 19,600 tonnes of LNG; 15,500 tonnes of palm oil; 318 tonnes of bitumen; 45,079 tonnes of coal; 800 tonnes of chemical; 8,551 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 512 tonnes of palm kernel and 11,400 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 16,150 tonnes includes 16,150 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,450 containers comprising of 600 containers import and 850 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely MT Al Ghashamiya carrying LNG sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely CV MSC Pamela, MV Cape Cross and MV Aeolian Heritage carrying containers, coal and soyabean respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, palm kernel, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely CV APL Savanah, MV Gao-2, MV Epic Tetus, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Ardmore and MT NCC Abha carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean seeds, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV APL Savanah and CV Maersk Denver carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Tuesday. There was one ship namely CV Maersk Denver carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
There is one ship namely CV MOL Globe carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while two more ships namely CV APL Antwerp and CV Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
