Women T20 Cricket Super League: Quetta, FATA Strikers, Rawalpindi Hitters enter semi-finals
Quetta Fighters, FATA Strikers, Rawalpindi Hitters took berth into the semi-finals with two victories each in the first Women Twenty20 Cricket Super League being played at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium here on Thursday. Quetta Fighters defeated Islamabad Blasters and Kashmir Stars, FATA Strikers recorded victory Peshawar Paighly and Karachi Queens while Rawalpindi Hitters registered victories against Karachi Queens and Peshawar Paighlay.
In the first match Rawalpindi Hitters defeated Peshawar Paighlay by seven wickets. Peshawar Paighlay won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up only 46 runs. In reply, Rawalpindi chased the target for the loss of three wickets.
In the second match Quetta record its second victory Kashmir Stars when the match hit by hill-stone and heaving down pour. Quetta Fighters while batting first setup 143 runs and in reply Kashmir Stars was on 13 runs for the loss of two wickets after playing 6 overs. Applying the Duckworth Lewis (DLS) rules Quetta made 49 runs in 6 overs without loss and Kashmir lost two wickets for just 13 runs in six overs so Quetta was declared as winner on 38 runs.
The third match between Islamabad Blasters and Rawalpindi Angles was washed out due to rain and both were awarded one point each. Both have to play one match each so decide the fate of the fourth qualifying team for the semi-finals.
In the fourth match FATA Strikers beat Karachi Queens by 177 runs and elegant knock by Javeria who smashed the first century of the League 117 runs not out. FATA Strikers won the toss and batting first by setting up 216 runs target in which Javeria scored not out 117 runs. Javeria struck nine boundaries and two sixes. In reply, Karachi Queens bundled out for 39 runs.
