The police on Saturday issued a threat alert to JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman. In a letter to the JUI-F chief, the Peshawar police issued security threats. The threat alerts were issued by intelligence agencies whereas all departments concerned have been asked to take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward situation. According to the letter penned by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Peshawar, "Maulana Fazlur Rahman faces security threats."
The letter further advised the JUI-F chief to not visit Peshawar owing to the security threats. The police official also warned JUI-F chief against attending and addressing a rally in Peshawar and urged him to restrict his movement. JUI-F leader Rashid Soomro has demanded that Fazl be granted foolproof security following the assassination of JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq on Friday. Maulana Samiul Haq was assassinated in a targeted attack in Rawalpindi on Friday.
