Jordan tenders to buy 120,000 tonnes wheat
HAMBURG: Jordan's state grain buyer has issued an international tender to buy 120,000 tonnes of milling wheat which can be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Thursday.
Tender deadline is Jan. 15.
A new tender had been expected after Jordan made no purchase in its previous wheat tender on Wednesday when only three trading houses participated.
In recent months, Jordan has struggled to buy wheat and barley in tenders after changed terms for quality specifications and payment reduced participation by international trading houses.
The new wheat tender seeks shipment in a range of possible combinations in 60,000 tonne consignments. Possible shipment periods are March 1-15, March 16-31, April 1-15 and April 16-30.
A separate tender from Jordan to purchase 120,000 tonnes of animal feed barley also closes on Thursday.
