ICE Canadian canola futures edged higher, boosted by strength in soyabean and rapeseed prices. Trade was lackluster, with little interest in buying or selling, a trader said. Most-active January canola gained 60 cents to $482.40. January-March canola spread traded 1607 times, finishing at a $7.60 March premium. Chicago January soyabeans gained on firming US cash values and optimism for US-China trade talks.
February Paris Matif rapeseed futures rose and Malaysian December palm oil futures fell. The Canadian dollar was trading at $1.3215 to the US dollar, or 75.67 US cents at 1:29 p.m. CST (1929 GMT).
