NAB Rawalpindi arrested Munir Jeelani, ex-deputy director, land survey division, CDA, over charges of misusing his authority by illegally handing over of possession of 4.5 acres of land situated at prime location diplomatic enclave Islamabad worth billion of rupees without due process. In same case, NAB Rawalpindi had already arrested three accused which was in Physical custody, namely Ghulam Serwar Sandhu, ex director Urban Planning CDA who recently demoted from the post of DG to deputy director and Nusratullah ex member planning CDA.
Ghulam Sarwar Sandhu wrongfully presented facts in his summary so that contract to be awarded to his frontman Muhammad Hussain (the contractor) for developing multiple facilities for visa seekers and running shuttle services, says a press release issued here.
Accordingly the said piece of land worth billions of rupees was awarded to the contractor in 2008 at throwaway price of 2 rupees/sqy per annum as rent of land to CDA, without process of tendering/bidding that is the gross violation of prescribed government rules and regulations. Moreover, the contractor operated this facility till 2015 and illegally charged 500 rupees from passengers for transportation into diplomatic enclave, whereas Islamabad high court took notice of the matter and termed the contract awarded by CDA as illegal and glaring example of favoritism.-PR
