Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has announced to grant 50 percent discount to students on fare from December 25th to January 10th during winter vocations in the educational institutions. While addressing a press conference on Saturday at Railways Headquarters, he said that Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan would inaugurate two new trains on November 23. Two new freight trains will be inaugurated from December 25th and January 26th, respectively. After the inauguration of these trains, the total number of freight train would reach 10.
"Toilets will be built and wheel chairs will be provided at railway stations for the special persons travelling in the trains," the minister maintained. He said a new railway station with a commercial plaza consisting of hundred shops will be constructed in Rohri, Sindh province, for the convenience of passengers as well as trains. Rasheed announced to move the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against corruption in the department committed during the previous government tenure.
In response to a question, he said Business Train, Royal Palm Country Club and Shalimar Hospital land cases have already been referred to the NAB. "We appeal to Supreme Court and National Accountability Bureau to take immediate decision about the cases of Business Train, Shalimar Hospital and Royal Palm."
When asked, he confessed to holding an hour long meeting with Chaudhry Nisar. Responding to a question, the Minister stated that "he does not know whether Nisar is joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf or Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz." He opined that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) couldn't be completed without M-1 project.
The Minister renewed commitment to vacating department's land from the land grabbers. He further said after the Prime Minister's successful visit to china, the Deputy Minister of China for CPEC would visit Pakistan next month for detailed discussion regarding railway projects. Replying another question, Rasheeed added that it would take at least one year to fix the blunders of past.
