A five-member delegation of the National Railways Administration (NRA), China, arrived in the provincial metropolis to discuss CPEC projects related to railways, ML-1 and ML-2, Business Recorder has learnt. The delegation, headed by NRA Deputy Administrator Lusheng, will meet Federal Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad and railways technical team to finalise the said project. If both the parities are satisfied with the terms and conditions of the project, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed on December 25.
It is pertinent to mention here that the NRA will have the second round of dialogue with the Railways Minister today (Tuesday) at Railways Headquarters. The first round of talks between the Chinese delegation and minister for railways took place at Islamabad on Monday.
It was decided in the meeting that there would be no modification in framework agreement between NRA and PR. It was also decided that upgradation of ML-I will be carried out in the shortest possible time after the NRA will give reasonable construction estimate to the Pakistan Railways.
It was further decided that technical teams from both the sides will discuss in detail issues relating to railway relationships. The final report will be signed on December 25. The delegation mentioned that Main Line (ML-1) is a central infrastructure of Pakistan.
The Railways Minister said that "upgradation of ML-1 is lifeline of CPEC". There would be no further modifications in framework agreement between NRA and PR, he added. He also mentioned ML-2 and ML-3 are also important for CPEC.
