Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet on Thursday ratified the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Provincial Energy Development Organization (PEDO) and Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Company (KHNPC) for the construction of 496MW Spatgah Power Project in District Kohistan.
The meeting of the provincial cabinet held here with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair was attended by the provincial ministers and administrative secretaries of the provincial departments.
Briefing the media regarding decisions taken in the meeting, the Provincial Minister for Information, Shaukat Yousafzai said that US one billion dollars Spatgah Power Project would be run under private public partnership.
He said that among 20 percent shares of power project, 26 percent would be of KP government while the remaining shares would be of KHNPC.
He informed that 256 among 356 micro hydro power projects initiated by KP government, have been completed that would be handed over to local communities after operationalization.
He said that amendment in PEDO Act has been proposed for transfer of these projects to local communities.
To a question regarding the merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he disclosed that a committee has been constituted to finalize the modalities relating to financial and developmental matters arisen after merger of erstwhile tribal areas.
He said that provincial cabinet after discussing matter relating to financial and development aspects of FATA merger constituted a committee under the chairmanship of the Senior Minister, Atif Khan.
The cabinet also reviewed procedure regarding the merger of the erstwhile FATA directorates into provincial departments, its mechanism and apprehensions of stakeholders. He said that FATA secretariat would be made administrative part of provincial government.
