The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saturday approved the establishment of three new shelter homes in the provincial metropolis Peshawar and rehabilitation of the already existing Sarais/shelter homes in the province.
The decision was taken in a meeting held here with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair. Those who attended the meeting include chief secretary, Naveed Kamran Baloch, additional chief secretary (ACS), Shahzad Bangash, principal secretary to CM, Mohammad Israr Khan, secretary finance, Shakeel Qadir, commissioner Peshawar and other concerned authorities.
Presiding over the meeting, the chief minister directed for the collection of the data of homeless people and making arrangements for the establishment of shelter homes for them as vision and idea announced by the Prime Minister Imran Khan. He also directed the activation of the detoxification centres for drug addicts and rehabilitation of beggars and drug addicts.
The chief minister was told that currently 11 shelter houses were already established in the province and the rehabilitation of three such facilities in Peshawar and remaining in regional headquarters was needed. During the meeting, the proposal for the establishment of three new shelter homes in Peshawar was flouted that was approved by the chief minister.
