The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Sunday granted permission to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to meet his brother Shahbaz Sharif, who is in the Bureau's custody and underwent medical check earlier in the day. Nawaz Sharif had earlier requested the NAB to allow him to meet Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and leader of the opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif following his medical examination at a private hospital in the federal capital.
Sources said that Shehbaz Sharif was brought to the hospital by the NAB officials earlier in the day and his blood tests and Computed Tomography (CT) scan were conducted. They said that CT scan report is expected to be received on Tuesday after which doctors will meet him again and give their opinions on his medical condition.
They said that the CT scan was conducted on the recommendation of a four-member medical board who checked the ailing PML-N leader and is currently in the NAB custody under the charges of corruption in Ashiana Housing Scandal. They said that Nawaz Sharif will meet Shehbaz Sharif today (Monday), as the party had alleged that the NAB is not allowing Shehbaz Sharif to have proper medical attention as he is likely suffering from blood cancer.
