The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Lahore Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to review its decision for fixing water charges on monthly basis for industrial sector.
The demand was raised by LCCI Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzad Nasir and Vice President Fahim-ur-Rehman Saigal at a meeting with a group of industrialists here at the Lahore Chamber on Tuesday. Khawaja Shahzad Nasir said that through a notification, the WASA has fixed Rs100,000 per month and Rs50,000 per month respectively for installation of tube-well sized 1 cusic and 1/2 cusic for industrial, commercial, non-residential and corporate bodies while 10 percent surcharge will also be imposed in case of late payment. The industrialists will have to pay this huge amount on just installation of tube-wells even if the unit is closed.
