That Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar is strongly committed towards building new dams in the country is a fact. The response his mission statement in this regard has elicited from the Pakistanis at home and abroad is amazing. More and more people are making generous contributions towards achieving the goal of construction of new water reservoirs in the country. According to the Chief Justice, all Pakistanis are energetically contributing funds for the construction of dams and he only witnessed similar passion during the 1965 war. It is therefore heartening to note that people from all walks of life have positively responded to the chief justice's call. This presents a sardonic comment on our successive governments' failure to pay attention to this issue of nation's present as well as its future. While there is a strong need of building new dams in the country, there is also a need for creating a culture of saving water as the incidence of water wastage in the country is one of the highest in the world; we must use water efficiently and economically.
