The Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive) Lahore has collected Rs 1544 million as Customs duty during November 2018 and registered unprecedented growth of 71 percent. The overall revenue collection of the Collectorate during November 2018 is Rs 4126 million with a growth of 45 percent. It may be noted that Collector Jamil Nasir Khan is currently looking after the Collectorate of Preventive. He also reviewed the anti smuggling performance of the Collectorate for the month of November 2018.
According to statistics, seizures worth Rs 292 million were made during the month against seizure of Rs 72 million in the corresponding month of the last year.
In a bid to control smuggling of foreign currency, the Collectorate made out three cases worth Rs 16.7 million and initiated criminal proceedings against the accused persons.
Six persons have so far been arrested in these cases.
According to the performance report of the Collectorate, some major detections were also made during November which include one case of misdeclaration of mobile phones at Air Freight Unit involving Rs 135 million and another drugs related case involved seizure of cannabis/ketamine valuing Rs 53.5 million. In the said two cases, four persons have already been arrested and further investigation is underway.
The Collector has also constituted a team to investigate these cases.
A special tem to conduct verification of unclaimed goods at AFU has also been constituted to enhance customs controls. The team would furnish its report within two weeks.
