Chairman Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Mehmood Khan Achakzai has said that the present government is unconstitutional. Addressing a big public rally at Sadiq Shaheed Park here on Sunday to commemorate the 45th death anniversary of Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai, he demanded that a Grand Jirga of Pashtoons may be formed so that their rights could be obtained. Achakzai also demanded for a separate Pashtoon province.
He said that Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai played a significant role in liberation of subcontinent and fought not only against the English imperialism but also against the dictators of Pakistan and remained behind the bar for many years.
He said that Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan had been the supporter of democracy and bitter opponent of tyranny. He said that Pashtoons want their true identity in Pakistan and sole authority over the natural resources of their region. He suggested for forming a Grand Jirga comprising Asfand Yar Wali Khan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Sirajul Haq and Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao so that a joint struggle for the rights of oppressed Pashtoons may be initiated.
He said, "Pakistan is a federation and we consider Pakistan as our country." He said that Pakistan could become a true democratic state when its people are given authority over its natural resources.
He said that the present government was unconstitutional and its affairs were being run by undemocratic elements. He said that every child should be given the right to seek education in his own mother tongue. He also demanded that new provinces on ethnic and cultural grounds be formed and accordingly a united Pashtoon province be formed with the name of Pashtoonistan or Pashtoonkhwa.
He said that a free and independent Afghanistan was in the best interest of both Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said that to bring peace and normalcy in the region, both Pakistan and Afghanistan will have to respect each other. Senator Usman Khan Kakar, Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal, Obaidullah Babat, Sardar Mustafa Khan Tareen, Ex-Senator Rauf Lala and Central Information Secretary, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Raza Muhammad Raza also spoke on the occasion.
