An accountability court on Tuesday granted 15 days physical remand of a senior police officer Rai Ijaz to the NAB in alleged embezzlement of funds of Rs 700 million. The NAB presented Rai Ijaz before the court and alleged that the SSP had embezzled funds between 2014 and 2016 while serving as the district police officer in Gujrat. It said this was done through misappropriating funds allotted for uniforms and fuel.
Rai Ijaz however in his response said that the anti-corruption department had completed its investigation into the NAB case and submitted its findings which show no evidence of corruption on his part.
