Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has categorically stated that Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Peshawar project will be completed by the end of March next year.
The government functionaries, the contractors, the companies and all the relevant departments are bound to meet the deadline under all circumstances adding that the Swat Motorway would also be completed as per the deadline.
This, he stated, while talking to a delegation of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) at Chief Minister's Secretariat Peshawar.
Provincial Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai, Special Assistant to CM Abdul Karim, administrative secretaries and others relevant quarters attended the meeting.
The delegation was led by Faiz Muhammad. Chief Minister dispelled the impression created by certain quarters doubting the timely completion of both mega projects and assured his government would not compromise on the timely completion of BRT and Swat Expressway as per the time tag.
The chief minister said that both the projects were of supreme importance that would change the landscape of the province. Both projects integrating the whole region and opening Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for promoting of tourism industry, agriculture productivity, improving the infrastructure development for Rashakai Economic zone and opening new vistas of trade and commercial activities in the province.
He had already directed against any negligence causing delay of the projects otherwise the companies and contractors would be blacklisted and the government's officials penalized. BRT with new features and additional work that was earlier proposed for the second phase and thereafter included in the first phase and clearing it from ECNEC, were some of the inevitable factors that consumed sometime but now everything is okayed, BRT would be ready by the end of March and the fleet of buses would ply in April on it, he added.
Speaking about his government policy for industrialization and exploiting the unexplored advantages of different parts of the province, Mahmood Khan assured provision of one window operation for the facilitation of investment and industrialization. The government would go whole hog to attract the investors to the province and invest here because law and order situation has improved considerably, the government offered unmatched incentives and ensured business and investment friendly environment in the province.
He recognized the role of the business community of this province adding that his government considers the community to become the backbone of the provincial economy again. This province, the people including the tribal areas suffered in the wake of war on terror.
Now security related issues have considerably resolved and we have yet to go from an appropriate environment towards an ideal environment requiring combined contribution by the government, the business community and the people.
Our efforts would yield multi-dimensional benefits in terms of industrialization, agricultural productivity engaging maximum investors for raising exports and large scale job creation that would certainly go a long way in overcoming the unemployment problem and engaging the youth in the productive sector, especially in the newly created avenues in industrialization and agriculture productivity.
Assuring the timely completion of Swat Expressway, Mahmood Khan said that his government was set to extend the Swat Motorway from Chakdara to Swat. He assured to visit the Peshawar Dry port to resolve the problems of the business community in this regard.
He assured the utilization of already allocated 100mmcf gas for the rapid boost of industrialization in the Rashakai, Hattar and other parts of the province.
He further assured for an effective mechanism for the preservation of culture heritage of Masjid Mohabat Khan and its vicinity. He expressed the hope that Rashakai economic zone would boost the trust of the investors where they will enjoy attractive packages.
The government would also hold an investment conference to inform them of the government's incentives being given to the investors, the one window operation required for the ease of the doing business, revitalizing the role of KP EZDMC, full implementation of the industrialization policy, providing even handed field to all investors adding that public sector institutions have been sensitized to perform their responsibilities as before his government they were sleeping fast.
He also assured a reasonable attraction to the investors affected by the Bus Rapid Transit Peshawar and other projects.
