The Karachi Port handled 99,294 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,647 tonnes of import cargo and 7,647 tonnes of export cargo including 3,797 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 91,647 tonnes comprised of 36,259 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,212 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,519 tonnes of DAP and 32,657 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 7,647 tonnes comprised of 7,479 tonnes of containerised cargo and 168 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 3,797 containers comprising of 3,106 containers import and 691 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 726 of 20's and 934 of 40's loaded while 34 of 20's and 239 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 148 of 20's and 166 of 40's loaded containers while 121 of 20's and 45 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Hyundai New York and Diyala carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. Wiking, Tirua, Cardonia, Ever Union, Golden Brilliant, Chance and Abu Al Abyad Carrier carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 113,520 tonnes comprising 87,110 tonnes of import cargo and 26,410 tonnes of export cargo including 3,208 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 87,110 tonnes includes 11,100 tonnes of palm oil; 23,750 tonnes of LNG; 15,272 tonnes of coal; 1,500 tonnes of chemical; 946 tonnes of bitumen and 34,542 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,410 tonnes includes 26,410 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 3,208 containers comprising 1,818 containers import and 1,390 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were three ships namely CV MSC Los Angeles, MV Rinia and MV Madiro carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to sail on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely CV Seamax Darien, CV Diyala and MV Bel Ocean carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on Friday afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, bitumen, palm kernel, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as ten ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena, MV Reem-II, MV Agri Kinsale, MV Rita Ocean, MV Puppis Ocean, MV IVS Naruo, MV Vila Harmony, MT Security, MT Able Sailor and MT Crimson Jade carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean seeds, coal, condensate and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Maersk Chicago, MV Reem-II, MV Agri Kinsale, MV IVS Naruo, MV Ginga Ocelot and MT Security carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical and condensate respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains & Fertilizer Terminal (FAP), Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Chicago carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely CV MOL Globe carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
