The farmers should evolve irrigation plans for coming Rabi season keeping in view the mostly cold and dry weather ahead, the Met Office has said. It said that the country's most parts are expected to witness a cold and dry weather spell with light rain and snowfall until December 10, asking the growers to make irrigation plans keeping in view the prevailing weather.
It also said that the growers should take a proper precaution in plucking cotton since the clean and high quality production fetches a higher return. It warned that the contaminated cotton is cheaply traded on the market. "Harvesting of peanut may be completed and the fields may be well ploughed afterwards," it said and added that farmers should also remove weeds from their standing crops for a better output. Cold and dry weather is expected in Punjab with a chance of light rain in its northern parts.
