The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has taken Suo Moto notice of non-availability of pure and safe drinking water to the people of Bhagnari area (Bolan) Balochistan. The notice was taken on a video viral on social media and a program telecast by private TV channel showing that people and animals of the area were drinking contaminated, polluted and unhygienic stagnant water from the same pond outside the Bhagnari Area.
Taking notice of the issue, the Chief Justice of Pakistan has directed Advocate General, Chief Secretary, Secretary Health and Secretary Public Health Engineering Department, Deputy Commissioner Bolan, Government of Balochistan to appear in Court on 14.12.2018 at Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has deposited Rs 200,000 in Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dams Fund.
It is pertinent to mention here that CJP has made this announcement in Special Transmission of a private TV channel recently, said a press statement.-APP
Terence J Sigamony from Islamabad adds: DG Khan Cement Company, owned by Mansha Group, on Saturday filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking review of its order about imposition of penalty on account of conduct of the factory's administration.
A two-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, while disposing of a matter on November 19 last ordered DG Cement to deposit Rs 200 million in the SC Dam Fund as penalty on account of its administration's conduct.
Even though the factory has deposited Rs 100 million in the dam fund, the management through its lawyer Salman Aslam Butt has filed a review petition wherein it is feared that the court's observation about imposition of penalty may be detrimental for repute of DG Cement as a corporate entity.
The petitioner has also expressed regret over any inadvertent action on its part or its administration. The petitioner is a law-abiding corporate entity which always endeavoured to comply with the court's order.
The petition also raised question over the conduct of an applicant Raja Waseem in this matter. It is also contended that there was no order wherein the petitioner was restrained from filling ponds through tube-wells which were shut down later.
