A Pakistani official delegation headed by Prime Minister's Advisor on Commerce, Textile, Industries and Production and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood is in Tokyo (Japan) to deliberate on possibility of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), well informed sources told Business Recorder. Prime Minister's Advisor reached Tokyo on Sunday to represent Pakistan in Joint Government Business Dialogue (JGBD) on December 10, 2018 on Monday (today) in Tokyo to further discuss the Trade and Investment issues at senior level.
The delegation will give a detailed presentation to Japanese authorities about bilateral trade and prospects of future trade. "Pakistan will ask Japan to explore the possibility of PTA, joint ventures and investment," the sources added.
The second meeting of Japan-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee (JTC) was held on November 22, 2018 in Islamabad. The Pakistani side expressed desire for a constructive discussion focused on further enhancing bilateral trade and economic ties between the two countries.
During the meeting various issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation including possibility of exploring Preferential/ Free Trade Agreement (PTA/FTA) with Japan , multiple entry visas for Pakistani businessmen and cooperation in ICT (Information & Communication Technology) sector came under discussion.
The Japanese side has assured that the visa issue will be resolved for Pakistani businessmen. Both sides concurred to further explore the possibilities in the ICT sector, market access and PTA/FTA for mutual benefit.
