The Punjab government on Wednesday tabled in the Punjab Assembly six bills including The Punjab Prevention of Conflict of Interest Bill 2018, The Punjab Right to Services Bill 2018, The Punjab Domestic Workers Bill 2018, The Punjab Skills Development Authority Bill 2018, The Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Amendment) Bill 2018 and The Punjab Board of Technical Education (Amendment) Bill 2018. The bills were introduced by Law Minister Raja Basharat.
The opposition in the Assembly protested against putting the name of opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz on Exit Control List (ECL) by the FIA and arrest of MPA Khawaja Salman Rafique by the National Accountability Bureau and demanded to present a condemnation resolution against it. While responding to this demand, Law Minister Raja Basharat said there is no need of such a resolution because the name of Hamza Shahbaz was put on the ECL after adopting due procedure. Raja Basharat said he was ready to address the grievances of opposition regarding Punjab government, but added that NAB and FIA come under the ambit of federal government. He also said that the PML (N) government was in power for the last 10 years but they did not come up with any legislation for issuing production order of imprisonment members of the Assembly. He reminded the House that during their tenure the PML (N) did not issue production orders of Molana Azam Tariq, Moonis Elahi and Ashraf Khan Sohna.
Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari said that he does not have the power to issue such production orders, however, he hinted at constituting a committee for amending the law.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan People's Party parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza said the PPP was always politically victimized in the name of accountability. He demanded accountability of judges, generals and bureaucrats. He said the PPP has asked the PML (N) to support them in amending Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution but they never supported them. Murtaza further said that the PPP condemns the act of putting the name of Hamza Shahbaz on the ECL and arrest of Salman Rafique.
