Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansur Khan has said that like every discipline, there is always a slot at the top in the field of law for which students should aim. However, they must not jump to the top, but climb up to avoid a fall.
He was delivering presidential address at the first Law Students Conference organised by the Justice Helpline in collaboration with the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL) and other institutions in a local hotel. The conference was attended by around 1000 law students from across the country.
Anwar Mansur Kan, one time a judge of SHC, took oath of allegiance to country from the law students. Secretary Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan Dr Abdul Rahim Awan, Federal Secretary Communication Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Chief Secretary Sindh Mumtaz Ali Shah, provincial Minister for Sports and Culture Sardar Mahar, Secretary Law Sindh Shariq Ahmed, founder Vice Chancellor SZABUL former Justice Qazi Khalid Ali, the first lady Judge, former Justice Majida Rizvi, President SHCBA Prof Muhammad Aquil, Dean faculty of Law Hamdard University Dr Qamaruddin Bohra, Prof G N Qureshi, former Justice Shahab Sarki, President Justice Helpline Nadeem Shaikh advocate, Prof Zafar Kalanoori of LUMS, Senator Haseeb Ahmed, President Karachi Bar Association Heder Imam Rizvi, Atam Parkash and Haris Amin Bhatti also spoke on the occasion.
Anwar Mansur Khan said the profession of law demanded untiring hard work, commitment and sincerity from law students because they would protect individual rights and ensure rule of law. He appreciated Justice Helpline and its president Nadeem Shaikh for holding the first law students conference and vowed to encourage holding of similar conferences in other cities of the country.
Founder VC SZABUL Qazi Khalid Ali unfolded the details of the collaboration agreement signed between, SZABUL, the first law university of Pakistan, and the University of Northampton (UoN) UK.
He said normally the UK universities charge 14 thousand to 18 thousand pound annual fee from foreigner students but under collaboration agreement, Pakistani LLB and LLM students would pay annual fee of 2300 pound and 1300 pound respectively for final year study in UK and would get degree of UoN.-PR
