Syed Bakhtiyar Kazmi has offered a workable solution to end the national airline's woes; he is straightforward and realistic. According to him, "Notwithstanding the be Pakistani buy Pakistani mantra which we all give lip service to at least, perhaps the decision to always ignore Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for international travel had more to do with the horror stories about their inefficient and discourteous service which our own media loves to spotlight regularly. Perceptions matter, and if our own media is hell bent on maligning the domestic airline, than no amount of marketing will get PIA passengers. Food for thought; for a change, maybe our news channels can start praising PIA and critiquing other airlines!"
It is interesting to note that the PTI government has decided to "restructure" this mega public-sector entity during its current five-year tenure. Previous governments too had tried to bring about a qualitative change in the performance of the national carrier; but no discernable change towards betterment could be brought about.
