Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said Pakistan People Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has started addressing public gatherings in Sindh as he has foresighted his political future.
Talking to the media here on Monday after inaugurating shelter homes in Rawalpindi, Rashid said the PPP co-chairman is putting his son Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's political future on stake. He further said, "If I had not filed a petition against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supreme Nawaz Sharif in the apex court, Nawaz Sharif would have been in the Parliament at present and he (Rashid) would have been out. Today Nawaz Sharif isn't a part of the Parliament but I am."
On a question over the murder of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Rashid said Zardari will also face the music over her murder. Rashid said he will soon request Prime Minister Imran Khan to lay down the foundation stone of Nullah Lai Expressway. He also announced that he will construct super market on the both sides of Nullah Lai. He said the Nullah Lai Expressway will cost Rs 36 billion which in past was estimated to be built at Rs 12 billion.
He said there will be no compromise over corruption as the PM is even not sparing his close allies and party workers e.g. Babar Awan. He maintained the nation will know about the reality of production orders (for Shahbaz Sharif and Saad Rafique) till March 2019.
He termed Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) a revolutionary project and said the project would resolve the public transport problems of the financial hub of the country.
The minister said the project was approved in August 2012 but due to the failure of former regimes, it could not be executed. He also sought provincial government's help to make the project a complete success in collaboration with the Railways Ministry. Responding to a question, he said Main Line-1 (ML 1) and KCR are sister projects and the federal government is committed to complete these mega projects during its tenure.
The minister said KCR is the part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which will cover the city and would be linked to ML-1 through Drigh Road. Sheikh Rashid claimed the project would prove a marvellous achievement of the government and help strengthen the national economy. The minister also sought Sindh government's help to remove encroachments along with the railway track. He said federal government would provide the land to Sindh government on lease to rehabilitate affected people of the operation.
