The Punjab Health Department has approved initial grant of Rs. 60 million for establishment of five mother and child hospitals in different districts.
In this connection a meeting was held here on Friday which chaired by Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid. Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Special Secretary Muhammad Khan Ranjha and others also attended the meeting.
"Further grant amounting Rs 175 million will also be released during the current fiscal year," said the Minister. It was also decided in the meeting that in every mother and child hospital a nursing college would also be established. The Minister directed for preparation of PC-1 of the project as early as possible. "An amount of further Rs. 6000 million will also be released during the current fiscal year," announced the Minister.
She also said that under the CM's stunting reduction programme, Rs. 525 million has been approved and further grant of Rs. 12.22 million will be released soon.
During the meeting, a supplementary grant for other projects was also sanctioned. "The Health Department has developed 14 Diagnostic Mobile Units to be attached with backward areas. Diagnostic Mobile Units were fully equipped with all diagnostic equipment and allied facilities. The Punjab government was committed to provide basic health facilities at gross root level," pledged Dr. Yasmin. Meanwhile, the Minister while addressing another meeting said that emergencies of all secondary hospitals should be up to the mark.
