The Karachi Port handled 120,289 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,031 tonnes of import cargo and 36,258 tonnes of export cargo including 6,020 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 84,031 tonnes comprised of 38,943 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,804 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,869 tonnes of canola; 7,815 tonnes of urea and 33,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 36,258 tonnes comprised of 31,369 tonnes of containerised cargo, 550 tonnes of bulk cargo, 1,233 tonnes of natural barite and 3,106 tonnes of rice. As many as 6,020 containers comprising of 2,853 containers import and 3,167 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 849 of 20's and 922 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 80 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 645 of 20's and 717 40's loaded containers while 546 20's and 271 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Cardonia, Clemens Schulte, Blue Ridge and Pacific Award carrying containers, canola and stone respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Clemens Schulte, Wan Hai-611, MT Quetta, YM Miranda and Dato Success carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 221,293 tonnes comprising 203,311 tonnes of import cargo and 17,982 tonnes of export cargo including 4,451 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 203,311 tonnes includes 68,111 tonnes of LNG; 4,700 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,000 tonnes of palm oil; 37,153 tonnes of coal; 980 tonnes of mogas; 1,408 tonnes of bitumen; 3,246 tonnes of EDC and 72,713 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 17,982 tonnes includes 6,126 tonnes of rice and 11,856 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 3,792 containers comprising 2,272 containers import and 1,520 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were four ships namely MV Abn Ruby, MV Asia Emerald, MT Seriayu and MT Gulf Baynunah carrying bitumen, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean seeds, bitumen, mogas, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as nine ships namely MV Sakizaya Diamond, MV Puppis Ocean, MV African Ibis, MV Atlantic Unity, MV Joy, MT Kiso, MT Horizon, MT Chemroad Lily and MT UACC Messila carrying soyabean seeds, steel coil, coal and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. MV Atlantic Unity, MV Joy, MT Umm Bab, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Chemroad Lily carrying bitumen, coal, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were no ships due to arrive on Wednesday.
