It is quite heartening to note that British Airways has decided to resume its flight operations between London and Islamabad from June 2, 2019, after almost a decade when it suspended its operations in September 2008. It is also quite likely that many other international airlines that had stopped operations in the past, would be resuming their operations anytime soon. This development brings under focus two key factors about the country: there is a marked improvement in law and order situation as compared to previous years; and secondly, business and investment activities are likely to get a boost. Foreign Minster Shah Mehmood Qureshi's is a plausible argument that British Airways' decision is an acknowledgement of Pakistan's continued efforts for peace and elimination of terrorism. The situation however underscores the need for our own airline to become competitive by raising its standards.
