The Karachi Port handled 156,203 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,295 tonnes of import cargo and 53,908 tonnes of export cargo including 7,123 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 102,295 tonnes comprised of 51,191 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,796 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,601 tonnes of canola; 6,984 tonnes of urea and 36,714 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 53,908 tonnes comprised of 36,514 tonnes of containerised cargo; 787 tonnes of bulk cargo, 11,243 tonnes of clinkers; 2,564 tonnes of rice and 2,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,123 containers comprising of 3,720 containers import and 3,403 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,226 of 20's and 1,071 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 176 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,120 of 20's and 497 40's loaded containers while 335 20's and 477 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely APL Chong Qing, SM New York, Wan Hai-611, MT Quetta and Dato Success carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. APL Chong Qing, Conti Darwin, Pacific Grouse, Surf Lestari, Summit Africa, Transtime and Ocean Haven carrying containers, supply ship, oil tanker, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 209,888 tonnes comprising 193,203 tonnes of import cargo and 16,685 tonnes of export cargo including 1,709 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 193,203 tonnes includes 62,151 tonnes of LNG; 12,142 tonnes of palm oil; 43,500 tonnes of coal; 26,459 tonnes of gasoil; 17,144 tonnes of steel coil; 7,710 tonnes of soyabean; 1,658 tonnes of LPG mix and 22,439 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 16,685 tonnes includes 6,653 tonnes of rice and 10,032 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A total number of 1,709 containers comprising 1,181 containers import and 528 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely CV SM New York, MV Navig-8 Stella and MT UACC Messila carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday.
A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, steel coil, soyabean seeds, coal, gasoil, LNG, LPG mix and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as nine ships namely MV Sakizaya Diamond, MV Glovis Maria, MV FLC wealth, MT Bow Fagus, MT Melati-4, MT Kiso, MT Horizon, MT Maritime Tuntiga and MT UACC Messila carrying soyabean seeds, coal, cement and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV GSL Tianjin, MV African Ibis, MV Jay, MT Tomson Gas, MT Umm Bab, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Chemroad Lily carrying containers, steel coil, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. There were no ships due to arrive on Friday.
