Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the JI would launch a movement for the restoration of the Bahawalpur province and for a Southern Punjab province in order to overcome the backwardness of the area.
He was addressing an extraordinary meeting of the JI leaders from the southern Punjab at Multan. JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch also attended the meeting which was chaired by JI chief for the southern Punjab, Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar. Sirajul Haq pointed out that the JI had already split its Punjab chapter into three parts, northern, central and southern and the secretariats of the three had started work.
He said that the feudal lords and capitalists of the area were responsible for the poverty and backwardness of the southern Punjab who returned to assemblies through the people's vote but never cared for the development of the area.
Sirajul Haq demanded an across the board accountability. He said that the NAB was talking much but its performance was minimal. He said that nothing was being done against the 436 persons named in the Panama Leaks. The JI chief said that the main responsibility of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was to dispense justice but the CJP was also doing what was the duty of the government.
