PFA seals four butchers shops

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday issued results of sampling carried out of ice creams and frozen desserts belonging to 156 different brands out of which 47 samples failed to come up to the standards. Products which could not meet the definition of ice cream, ice lollies or frozen desserts are being removed from the market on the directives of the Authority. PFA spokesman said the products which failed would be asked to improve their working and then samples would be taken again.
Meanwhile, vigilance teams of the Authority sealed four beef points situated in different areas of Lahore and recovered 1300 kilograms of stale meat from these points. The rotten meat was sent to Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMCO) for discarding properly.
DGA PFA Muhammad Usman said that provision of quality meat is the priority of the Authority and vigilance teams would go to every nook and corner of the provincial metropolis to check illegal slaughter houses and substandard meat.
He also appealed to the masses to inform PFA through its telephone helpline or website about shops involved in selling rotten or substandard meat.
