The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid has arrived here from Lahore to attend the proceedings of accountability court where Judge Mohammad Arshad Malik will announce the judgment in both references today (Monday). The party sources said that Nawaz Sharif arrived at the Ministers' Enclave to meet his younger brother and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif who has been in the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with investigations into Ashiyana Housing scam and is currently under medical treatment.
They said that the two PML-N leaders discussed the possible court verdict and future course of action of the party if the court gives its judgment against Nawaz Sharif as well as the prevailing political situation and party affairs. They said that Shehbaz Sharif briefed the elder brother about the ongoing contacts among the opposition political parties for a possible an anti-government opposition alliance.
The sources said that it was decided that Nawaz Sharif will personally hear the decision at the court room who will be accompanied by senior party leaders and parliamentarians to the court. As per the strategy, the sources said that the PML-N workers would also gather outside the accountability court premises to show their support to their leader in whatsoever post verdict situation. The party has asked its workers of the twin cities, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, to reach the accountability court on Monday.
Meanwhile, the local administration has also prepared its strategy to deal with the situation today, as sources said that only Nawaz Sharif and his lawyers will be allowed to enter the court room. According to deputy commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat, all the roads leading to the accountability court in Sector G-11 will be sealed, adding that Section-144 is already enforced in the city and no one will be allowed to create law and order situation in the city.
Security has also been beefed up in twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, ahead of the accountability court verdict. Enhanced security plan includes deployment of heavy contingent of security forces including rangers and 1,000 police personnel, particularly around the accountability court's premises in Islamabad to avert any possible resistance by the PML-N workers.
