Business Recorder op-ed writer Shabir Ahmed is highly perceptive about country's economic woes. Not only does he offer deeply informed expert opinion about the state of economy, he also highlights for newspaper's readers in general and PTI government in particular the real impediments to country's exports.
In his "Make in Pakistan - for export", the writer has made a highly plausible argument in the concluding part of his write-up. According to him, "We get confused when we hear of import substitution and exports spoken of in the same breath. Unless the idea is to promote import substitution only where we have a distinct competitive advantage we are afraid 'Make in Pakistan' will become 'Made for Pakistan' - not exports."
I agree with what the writer said, which was well formulated and articulated.
