The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar, has intensified campaign against smuggling of foreign origin cloth from Peshawar to Punjab. According to sources, under instructions from Dr Arsalan Subuctageen, Director Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar, the campaign against smuggling of foreign origin cloth from Peshawar to Punjab has been geared up. In pursuance of a piece of information, the staff of the directorate with the help of local police station, Chamkani Peshawar, impounded a suspected Mazda Truck bearing Registration no. LES-16-4234 coming from Peshawar side at Chamkani, GT Road, Peshawar. Cursory search of the vehicle indicated Flo cloth. The truck was, therefore, brought to the office of Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar, where thorough examination on 21.12.2018 led to the recovery of 84800 yards cloth, which has been seized along with vehicle.
The estimated value of the aforementioned seized cloth and truck is around Rs 20 million (cloth; Rs 17.5 million and truck; Rs 2.5 million). An FIR no. 68 of 2018 dated 21.12.2018 has been lodged against the persons and further investigation is under way.
