Team of experts constituted by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA) met at Gilgit-Baltistan House, Islamabad.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Brigadier Mukhtar Ahmed, Member (Operations), NDMA & Farid Ahmed, Director General, GBDMA and was attended by experts from NDMA, GBDMA, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP), National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK), Global Change Impact Study Centre (GCISC) and Pakistan Army, says a press release issued here on Friday.
During the course of the meeting the current status of the glacier was discussed as well as the monitoring efforts which are underway and future course of action to resolve the situation. The meeting concluded with the recommendations that PMD will intimate the best date for future field assessment visit of Shishper Glacier Surge at Hassanabad Village, District Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan during January / February 2019. -PR
