The Karachi Port handled 117,562 tonnes of cargo comprising 61,652 tonnes of import cargo and 55,910 tonnes of export cargo including 10,462 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 61,652 tonnes comprised of 42,583 tonnes of containerised cargo; 000 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,968 tonnes of DAP; 5,263 tonnes of soyabean seeds; and 8,638 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 55,910 tonnes comprised of 38,964 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo 9,740 tonnes of talc powder and 5,106 tonnes of rice.
As many as 6,246 containers comprising of 2,568 containers import and 3,678 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,397 of 20's and 502 of 40's loaded while 25 of 20's and 71 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,063 of 20's and 534 40's loaded containers while 293 20's and 627 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely YM Cypress, Cosco Japan, Navios Unison, Cosco Hong Kong, and SG Friendship carrying containers, and tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Chemroute Sun, BW Boron, Kot Layer and Mol Generosity carrying containers currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 192,990 tonnes comprising 152,140 tonnes of import cargo and 40,850 tonnes of export cargo including 2,111 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 152,140 tonnes includes 19,523 tonnes of diesel oil; 7,940 tonnes of palm oil; 34,177 tonnes of coal; 000 tonnes of chemicals; 7,250 tonnes of LPG; 12,000 tonnes of soyabean seed, 35,150 tonnes of containerised cargo and 36,100 tonnes of LNG. The total export cargo of 40,850 tonnes includes 40,850 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of eleven vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as twelve ships namely Cosco Japan, GaoYu, Sofie Victory, Port Canton , SSI Triumph, Venture Dylan, GNG Concord, Navios Soleil, SITC Zhong Shan, John M Carras, NCC Amal, and UACC Ibn Sina with containers, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, coal, LPG, diesel oil, palm oil and Bituman were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were two vessels viz. As Paola and MS Tiger with containers expected to take berths at Port Qasim on Friday 5th January-2019.
