Most parts of the country are expected to receive rain from next Thursday until Saturday, the Met Office said on Tuesday.
A fresh westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of the country on Thursday at dusk and may grip different parts from Friday. Karachi and parts on Sindh-Makran coastal belt are also likely to receive a light rain, while D G Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Sukkur Divisions isolated falls on Friday and Saturday.
Scattered rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Bannu, Kohat and D I Khan after sunset on Thursday and may continue till Friday. Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are expected to receive rain from Thursday evening to Saturday.
Snowfall over hills is also expected in Malakand including Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba and Upper Dir and Hazara Division Murree and Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan over the period. Fog may subside in plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during the period.
In the next 24 hours: The most parts of Pakistan are likely to witness mainly cold and dry weather while fog may continue in plains of Punjab, upper Sindh and Peshawar Division during night time and morning hours. "Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave is affecting northern areas of the country on Tuesday," the Met said. Over the past 24 hours: A very cold and dry weather gripped the most parts of the country with rain-thunderstorm and snowfall over the hills at places of Gilgit-Baltistan. Minimum temperature was recorded in Skardu as minus 14 degrees Celsius, Astore minus 12, Kalam minus 11, Bagrote and Gupis minus 7, each, Parachinar, Hunza, Dir and Malamjabba minus 4, each, Drosh, Kakul, Murree and Rawalakot minus 3, each, Gilgit, Chitral and Mirkhani minus 2, each, and Quetta minus 1.
