Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan has suggested that a deadline should be fixed for completion of inquiries against anyone to avoid media trial and agony. Talking to media men outside the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday, Aleem Khan said that an investigation has been underway against him since 2015 and he was facing media trial.
He said he remained Punjab Minister for Information Technology for four years and his comparison with those who remained in power for forty years is not fair; there is not a single audit paragraph against his Ministry time but enquiries are still lingering on .
The senior minister pointed out that a similar case of use of helicopter by Prime Minister Imran Khan in KPK also needs early decision by the concerned authority (NAB) . He claimed there was no logic in initiation of investigations against PTI leaders just to balance cases against leaders of Nawaz league , therefore this practice should be stopped.
Replying a question, Abdul Aleem Khan said that past "emperors" have left the nation under heavy debts for which the coming generation will have to pay the unbearable price. He claimed that the Shahbaz Sharif government wasted Rs 300 billion of public money on Orange Line Train project which is still incomplete. He said after the functioning of this subsidized train service, the government will have to pay around one thousand rupees as subsidy for each passenger which no government can afford in the long run.
He said the PTI government is taking a number of steps to minimize the cost and the running losses for which commercialization of stations is underway. He indicated that this Orange Line Train project would be completed by June or July this year.
In response to another question, Aleem Khan regretted that there was no planning for solid waste collection in Punjab despite huge expenditure and 80 per cent area of villages was badly ignored where there was no system of garbage collection.
He claimed that now with the collaboration of foreign companies recycling plants are being established to process garbage for production of gases, fertilizers and electricity.' these plants would alternate present dumping sites in Punjab and provide healthy environment to the masses. With reference to much talked about celebration of 'basant next month the , senior provincial minister said that the government had not taken any final decision about his matter. However, Chief Minister Punjab will announce the official decision about Basant.
Aleem Khan assured that the issue of Standing Committees in Punjab Assembly would be resolved within days and said it is high time that we all should sit together and work for the mandate given to us by the masses
"The opposition has an important role in any democratic system and we must accept each others' importance and give space to work for the issues of common man" Senior Minister said that people have great expectations from Imran Khan and time has come that we honour good proposals from even opposition benches and show practical performance.
