Some 1885 students were awarded degrees in their respective disciplines at the 27th Convocation of NED University of Engineering & Technology held on Saturday at the main campus of the university. Four Scholars were also awarded PhD Degrees. Governor Sindh, Chancellor of the university, presided over the convocation. Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah was the guest of honour.
Governor Sindh while addressing on the occasion said that a university not only imparts higher education but also conducts research and development which have direct impact on the national growth and economy. "NED, with its qualified faculty and strong administrative infrastructure has been at the forefront of research endeavours and contributing to Pakistan's economy," he added.
Imran Ismail said, "We are blessed with one of the most energetic and enthusiastic young minds in the world. Modern technologies are in our easy access which is no doubt an amazing platform for learning and research.
However, it must be ensured that we should not shy away from our social, cultural and moral values which we have inherited; especially those who have scarified their lives for this country and those who have contributed for the uplift of this country."
Governor Sindh while appreciating the role of NED in imparting education and conducting research said that NED has responded to many national challenges in a very pro-active way like setting up of a Water Institute and establishment of National Incubation Centre. "I am confident that it will be a platform for creative work, for young graduates, industry and academia, and will play its role in introducing amazing innovative ideas," he added.
Governor Sindh also extended congratulation to the students and said that students who have pursued their studies with hard work and dedications the Convocation is, no doubt, a rewarding moment for them and pride for the parents and teachers too, whose guidance and support enabled them to achieve this milestone.
