Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a mixed trend during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that during the week under review, prices of most of the vegetables, fruits, chicken and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) went down, while prices of sugar, formula milk NIDO/Everyday, packed spices, ghee/cooking oil, pulses, wheat flour and tea remained stable.
Potato price went further down from Rs 120 per 5kg to Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 30 per kg, onion price went down from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 130 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, tomato price remained unchanged at Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg.
Garlic prices remained stable in the range of Rs 300-400 per 5kg, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 70-95 per kg, while Chinese garlic price went up from Rs 600 per 5kg to Rs 650 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 140 per kg, and ginger price went up from Rs 600 per 5kg to Rs 700 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 180 per kg against Rs 150 per kg.
Wheat flour price remained stable at Rs 785 per 20kg bag, egg price went up from Rs 100 per dozen to Rs 110 per dozen in wholesale market which in retail market were being sold at Rs 120 per dozen against Rs 110 per dozen, live chicken price also came down from Rs 4,800 per 40kg to Rs 4,500 per 40kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 130-135 per kg against Rs 150 per kg and chicken meat was being sold at Rs 230 per kg against Rs 250 per kg.
Prices of all the major pulses remained stable as fine quality white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs170 per kg, while normal quality at Rs 135 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 170 per kg and normal quality grams at Rs 130 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) at Rs Rs 130 per kg.
Ghee/cooking oil prices also witnessed no change as normal quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 150 per kg pack, while best quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 1,030 per 5 litres tin while prices of sugar, formula milk Nido/Everyday, packed spices also remained stable.
During the week under review, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price went down from Rs 2,450 per 15kg cylinder to Rs 2,100 per 15kg cylinder, while no change was witnessed in firewood price. Capsicum price went up from Rs 330 per 5kg to Rs 375 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 80 per kg; yam (arvi) price remained stable at Rs 180 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg; carrot, radish, and peas were being sold Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market were available at Rs 25-30 per kg. Okra price further went up from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 150 per kg against Rs 120 per kg.
