Sindh Government on Saturday requested Water Commission to continue working till the objectives are completely accomplished as the commission's term is expiring on January 15. Sindh Advocate General Salman Talabuddin made this request on behalf of the provincial government.
The Commission (SWC), headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim, former judge of Supreme Court, stated that it is sole domain of the Supreme Court to consider such a request, independently.
The SWC's current chairman already requested the Supreme Court for no more availability for personal reasons after completion of his tenure on January 15. That request was already allowed by the apex court.
During the proceedings, Advocate General Sindh also tendered apology and announced to withdraw the comments made by Additional Advocate General Sindh in Islamabad before SC at the time when commission submitted its final report, few days ago. He said the statement was made without instruction.
Upon the Sindh government's instructions, Advocate General submitted that the law officer would record 'No Objection' to the final report of the Commission on January 14, 2019 when the matter would be taken up for hearing by Supreme Court and that may make rule of the Court.
Shahab Usto, the petitioner, present in the proceedings, recounted the efforts of the commission in pursuit of the larger public objectives. He backed the Advocate General's proposal that sought continuation of the Commission.
